Jan. 2022

The year of the 70th anniversary celebration of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, but also the beginning of the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) bicentennial celebrations, and planned to participate in the celebrations during that year.

Sep. 2022

With the Covid-19 pandemic behind us, we found out that we could leave Haneda Airport on September 7 without PCR inspection at the airport for both departure and return, and decided to fly to London on that day.
In addition to the bicentennial celebration of the Royal Academy of Music, she had plans to go to London because of family matters including the attendance of her eldest son’s celebration in Europe. She was able to successfully depart to London and attend those events.
On September 8, she arrived at London Heathrow Airport early in the morning at 6:30. However, she could not turn on the TV in the hotel room in the morning due to technical issues (not yet knowing the condition of the Queen).

Since RAM was located near the train station from the hotel, she was able to visit RAM in the early afternoon.
She was allowed to take pictures in front of the entrance of RAM and in front of the stained-glass conference room at the top of the spiral staircase in the school.
During her stay at RAM, she and her son, who accompanied her, talked with the school staff about the family's overseas postings, musical activities, and the education her sons had received in Washington, D.C. (Her sons were able to develop their English abilities even after returning to Japan thanks to the educational environment.) Thanks to the recognition of his high English proficiency, my second son found a job in a related field two years later.
